It’s been a long time since I did a drawing for Illustration Friday and with my trying to work on a drawing every day it seemed like a good time to give it a go again. The topic this week is “new”. My thinking when I first thought of it was the excitement of a new dress. In reality what the “new” in this piece was me playing around a little with technique and materials. The two new techniques are painting a color on the paper and drawing top of that paint as well as cutting a piece from the paper and sewing some fabric over the cut paper.
This is a pretty simple little experiment but I’m excited to try some of these ideas in more complex pieces.

I think it is awesome that you made a nice comment about this drawing after listening to my deranged ranting about this piece.
i thought the stitch line was interesting when i first saw it and you’re rant didn’t persuade me from my first impression.
