I have been thinking that it would be fun to share what I’m wearing on occasion. So today is my first entry in this semi-regular series. I’m hoping to have a few days to highlight in each post but this post only has today.

What I’m wearing:

I think this mix is a pretty accurate picture of how I dress most days. Almost always a mix of things I made, with things I add from used and discount stores. I always splurge on tights though, the better quality always fit better and last longer.

If I look like I’m concentrating too hard it’s because just as the photo was being shot I saw a really lovely hawk right outside my shop window, sitting on a branch.

A little slower this week on my Illustration Friday submission for “twirl”. I’m really enjoying drawing these again every week.

With all the transition and stress lately I’ve been finding it hard to eat as carefully as I like. There is so much to do and so little time. When I can manage to get my breakfast together before I leave the house in the morning I have been loving this green smoothie. It keeps me full, doesn’t spike my blood sugar and does not upset my delicate digestion.

Low-Glycemic Green Smoothie

2 cups mixed baby greens, spinach, or chopped lettuce
1 cucumber, peeled if waxed
1 avocado, peeled and pitted
1/2 lemon, peeled
2 cups water
1/4 cup protein powder (I’m using a mix of hemp and whey)
2 tsp. fermented cod liver oil
valencia orange flavored stevia to taste (I use about 1 or 2 droppers depending on greens flavor)

Place everything in a high-speed blender (if you do not have a high speed blender chop everything up pretty small) and blend until very smooth. I usually put this in an amber glass jar and bring it to work to sip over the course of the morning.

For the past 2.5 years Southern Arizona has been my home. We love living in the desert mountains. This town has been an amazing community to live in and to watch my daughter grow in. Having lived my whole life in New England and New York living in Arizona has been an amazing adventure.

Now, it’s time for a new adventure. While we love it in the tiny town of Patagonia, it is a difficult place for a family to make a living. As a result, by mid-February we will be living in Washington State. The move is bittersweet, I’ll miss the beauty of the high-mountain desert and the friends who have become family. I am a nomad at heart though and every adventure seems to have some sadness at its start.
