Where Did the Sun Go? (or) Goodbye Arizona, Hello Washington

15 Feb

This is going to be more of a photo assortment of our transition from Patagonia, AZ to Lakewood, WA. I miss Patagonia desperately but am finding pleasure in my new home. I hope to share more of what is happening here in the coming days.

Tumbleweed & Poppleswamp Has a New Layout!

27 Sep

I’ve rearranged the studio quite a few times since opening last December. Just recently I rearranged and feel like I totally transformed the space in the process. It is a small studio but I’ve managed to really open it up and make it feel more spacious. I also reupholstered my chair for clients too.

New Artist & New Project

26 Jul

Since opening my studio Tumbleweed & Poppleswamp I have wanted to feature other artists in addition to my work and Joel’s work.I was delighted when I was approached by the amazing artist in her own right, Paula Wittner, with the request that I hang some of her brother’s work. When she showed me his drawings I was blown away.

Drawing by Ezra Wittner

Ezra L. Wittner has thirty years experience in a wide range of design fields, including industrial, graphic, and interior design. He holds a Master of Arts degree from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design from the Philadelphia College of Art . He taught at Georgia Tech for eight years and has done mall design in Australia and Malaysia. He has received three grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and his work has appeared in books and magazines.

Be sure to come by the the gallery soon to check out Ezra Wittner’s amazing drawings!

In other news I have an exciting project in the works that will be announced soon. I plan on announcing it first in my newsletter. In this announcement I plan on giving a coupon that can be used as long as this project is in existence. The only other way to get this coupon will be by purchasing items in Tumbleweed & Poppleswamp in person. So be sure to sign-up for the newsletter soon!

Tumbleweed & Poppleswamp: A Living Studio

24 Dec

For almost two weeks now I have officially been in my own little studio. I’m calling it a living studio as I feel it is a lovely umbrella term that covers the diverse things I’ll be doing in the space.

I originally started looking for a space to rent as my Health Counseling and Marketing Consulting work have been quite busy and working out of our apartment was becoming increasingly challenging to work out of.

Joel and I have long dreamed of owning a shop. Our favorite past time when we lived in Brooklyn was strolling around neighborhoods purusing some of our favorite shops such as or sodafine. We dreamt so much we even settled on the name Tumbleweed & Poppleswamp.

I had the space mapped out in my head even though with New York City rents being what they are I knew there was only the slimmest hope I could ever get a space.

Now in Patagonia it seems that dream has finally come true. It is eery how much this space resembles the one I always imagined in my mind. Even the color of the turquoise wall is exactly as I thought it would be.

Now that the space is set up I will be offering much in the way of products and services. Of course I’ll feature my art and clothing as well as Joel’s paintings. I’ve been working on more greeting cards using my drawings and prints. I’ve been taking custom clothing orders again as well.

I’ll also be offering health counseling services here whether it be in-person or over the phone. My Marketing Consulting business has been taking off more than I could ever imagine. It will be lovely to finally have a professional space to meet with clients in!

I will also be offering a selection of products from all over the country that is either created by artists or supports artists. The first things I’ve gotten in the shop are by Little Otsu one of my favorite presses.

I hope to see you at Tumbleweed & Poppleswamp soon! We’re located at 299 McKeown Ave, Patagonia, AZ and our number is 520.394.0055. You can follow us on Facebook as well!
