My daughter Isadora loves to go fabric shopping with me, as long as we’re picking out things to make her a dress. Some time back a friend gave me an old skirt that she thought I could perhaps find a use for. Isadora immediately decided that I would make her a dress with it. I told her that we would have to get some items at the fabric store to spruce it up a bit.
Our next trip at the fabric store found her assembling quite the pile of trim and fabrics for her dress. We refined and matched and discussed. In the end she had a selection of goodies that I was honestly quite jealous of. It took me a bit of time to get to actually making the dress but finally I did. Isadora wore it to school today and I made sure to snap a picture of her in it.
My last visit to the fabric store this week found me stocking up on lots more little collars and trims. I have lots of old skirts in my closet and think that I just found a new use for them.
I’ve been doing some freelance sewing lately for a company which designs and makes linen clothing. Recently I got my hands on some of this beautiful fabric and have started playing around with it and designing new pieces with it.
In the coming weeks I will be finalizing designs, having a photo shoot and opening a new shop on-line where my clothing will be for sale! I’m playing around with the idea of using my original clothing lines name, Mellifluous Couture.
In the mean time I do have another way that you can buy my drawings. There is a great site called Red Bubble. I’ll be uploading lots of my work to this site. Some pieces will be available on t-shirts while others will be available as prints and notecards! I’m very excited about this being another way for people to get some of my drawings into their life! If there is any artwork of mine that you would like to see available in this way please let me know!
