Mellifluous Couture is back!

15 Aug

I’ve just opened an Etsy shop, Mellifluous Couture, for a clothing line I started in Brooklyn 10 years ago. I’ve been back to designing for quite awhile now but have only been selling through my own brick & mortar gallery. It was high time to make these items available online again.

As a celebratory off I’m giving you a coupon for 20% to use before September 15th. Use code “celebration” and get 20% off everything in the Mellifluous Couture Etsy shop.

New Artist & New Project

26 Jul

Since opening my studio Tumbleweed & Poppleswamp I have wanted to feature other artists in addition to my work and Joel’s work.I was delighted when I was approached by the amazing artist in her own right, Paula Wittner, with the request that I hang some of her brother’s work. When she showed me his drawings I was blown away.

Drawing by Ezra Wittner

Ezra L. Wittner has thirty years experience in a wide range of design fields, including industrial, graphic, and interior design. He holds a Master of Arts degree from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design from the Philadelphia College of Art . He taught at Georgia Tech for eight years and has done mall design in Australia and Malaysia. He has received three grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and his work has appeared in books and magazines.

Be sure to come by the the gallery soon to check out Ezra Wittner’s amazing drawings!

In other news I have an exciting project in the works that will be announced soon. I plan on announcing it first in my newsletter. In this announcement I plan on giving a coupon that can be used as long as this project is in existence. The only other way to get this coupon will be by purchasing items in Tumbleweed & Poppleswamp in person. So be sure to sign-up for the newsletter soon!

Recent Sewing Projects

9 Apr

I’ve been sewing up a storm stocking up Tumbleweed & Poppleswamp. I’ve also decided that I am going to open an Etsy shop for my one-of-a-kind sewing projects. I plan on opening a website with clothing as well but this will be more like my old Mellifluous Couture Build-a-Dress site. I’m hoping that summer in my sleepy town affords my enough time to work on all these lofty projects!

Dresses

I’ve been working on lots of new dress designs as of late. I’m working on filling up the rack at Tumbleweed & Poppleswamp. I’m still working towards opening a dress shop on-line, as I used to with Mellifluous Couture. I’ve even been thinking that I will do the line in fabric which I design myself.

For now, here are some of the new pieces I’ve been creating.

I have been sewing a lot recently. With Tumbleweed & Poppleswamp open now I’m trying to keep a steady supply of new pieces on the rack. I’ve also started building a virtual Tumbleweed & Poppleswamp so those of you who do not find yourselves in Patagonia very often have a way to shop as well.

The virtual shop will be much as my old clothing line, Mellifluous Couture, was online. I offered a line of dresses, skirts and shirts which could be made to measurement in your choice of fabrics. I’m working on getting samples sewn for the site and starting in late February I will start populating the shop with clothing.

For now I’m playing around with designs and getting samples made. Here are two of the designs I’m currently refining.
